University of Glasgow鈥檚 拢700m Gilmorehill campus extension places firm at top of civils and non-civils leagues
Multiplex Construction stormed both top 10 contractors鈥 tables 鈥 overall and without civils 鈥 for March, comfortably beating competitors with its 拢700m project for University of Glasgow鈥檚 Gilmorehill campus extension.
With five contracts in the past 12 months totalling 拢1.8bn, the firm is currently ranked third in the cumulative chart for the year, behind Balfour Beatty and Kier.
Multiplex鈥檚 nearest rival overall last month was Morgan Sindall, with 54 projects totalling 拢269.4m, with work spread across housing, public and predominantly commercial activity.
Balfour Beatty came third overall in March, thanks to 拢224.4m across 26 deals, with Kier placed fourth, with 69 contracts worth 拢217.8m with a mixture of work led by public, civils, commercial and housing.
Laing O鈥橰ourke鈥檚 work on the Llanfrechfa Grange specialist critical care centre for the Aneurin Bevan Health Board earned it 拢180m, contributing the largest chunk of its overall fifth place-earning 拢201m. The firm is currently fifth in the cumulative chart, with 拢1.1bn from 29contracts.
Sixth-placed FM Conway鈥檚 highways work for Kensington and Chelsea and Newham councils earned it 拢147m out of six contracts, while Mace鈥檚 拢140m housing work helped the firm into seventh position overall and fifth on the without civils list for March.
Skanska placed eighth overall with its 拢124m-worth of work boosted by a 拢100m contract to work on an office and retail development at 60 London Wall, in the capital.
