Work on the Grade I-listed building is expected to start in autumn 2020
Lendlease has beaten remaining rival Laing O鈥橰ourke to become the management contractor on the 拢328m project to repair, refurbish and partially restore Grade I-listed Manchester town hall.
The Australian contractor will also be responsible for enhancing Albert Square under the contract which is worth 拢190m to Lendlease.
In September, council documents revealed the race for the management contractor job was between Lendlease and Laing O鈥橰ourke.
As part of the deal, Lendlease has promised to provide 150 apprenticeships and 45 new jobs targeted at Manchester residents.
The council expects more than 100 subcontracts ranging from 拢10,000 to 拢10m to be let by Lendlease from the first quarter of this year.
The main construction works are scheduled to commence on site in autumn 2020.
The wider project team includes Mace as project manager, Faithful + Gould as the QS, Ramboll, which is providing structural and civil engineering services, and heritage architect Purcell.
