Designer unveils plans for 125,000m2 Al Favah Park
Thomas Heatherwick has been appointed to design a 125,000m2 park in Abu Dhabi.
The Al Fayah Park will have play areas, exercise paths, an organic fruit and vegetable garden, which will supply the cafes and restaurants in the park, and plants and flowers native to the Gulf.
It will have a dedicated public library, picnic area, mosque, outdoor cinema, and indoor and outdoor arenas to host performances, local festivals and community activities.
Work on the park, to be located on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street will begin at the end of 2014 and is due to open to the public in early 2017.
