Ministers also announce 拢4bn of additional schools capital funding for the next three years

The government has confirmed it will spend roughly 拢2bn on a second wave of its Priority Schools 好色先生TV Programme (PSBP) and a further 拢4bn for other capital work over the next three years.

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg said the latest PSBP investment would benefit 277 schools and that the programme will have refurbished or rebuilt 537 schools by the time it is complete.

Clegg and education secretary Nicky Morgan also announced another 拢4bn would also be allocated between 2015 and 2018 to help schools, local authorities, academy trusts, and voluntary-aided partnerships improve the condition of schools across the country.

The Department for Education said the three-year commitment gave those responsible for schools more financial certainty and that the funding would be more accurately targeted at schools in the highest need.

Clegg said: 鈥淚t is crucial that we invest properly in education, so that every child has a fair start in life.

鈥溾婽housands of pupils will benefit from better, brighter, warmer classrooms thanks to this 鈥媐unding.

鈥淐hildren can鈥檛 learn and teachers can鈥檛 teach in schools that are cold and have leaking roofs.鈥
