Carpet maker Desso has launched AirMaster, a carpet tile designed to improve indoor air quality

Air quality in buildings is often affected by high concentrations of fine dust and particulate matter. Desso says AirMaster鈥檚 high pile of ultra-fine yarn filaments captures and retains small particulate matter, while the coarser dust is captured in the thick yarns of a lower pile. The product鈥檚 open structure ensures dust is easily released during cleaning, which also restores the carpet to maximum filtering functionality.

The carpet has been tested by independent German testing institute GUI1, which showed the patented technology is eight times more effective at trapping particulate matter than hard floors and four times more than standard carpet.
