Combined the contracts are worth 拢360m to the firm鈥檚 JV with the Zawawi family
Carillion鈥檚 joint venture with the Zawawi family in Oman has been chosen as the preferred bidder for a 拢240m contract to design and build a new hospital.
The design phase of the contract for the New Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, the capital city of southern Oman鈥檚 Dhofar province close to the country鈥檚 boarder with Yemen, starts immediately and is being directly funded by the customer.
The build phase is slated to start next year.
The JV has also been awarded by Oman鈥檚 Minstry of health a 拢120m contract for a hospital in the port city of Khasab on the Musandam Peninsula in the north of the country.
Carillion said the contracts were 鈥減rocured via lower risk procurement routes, for example through seeking support from UK Export Finance to secure project finance for customers鈥.
The firm added that it is continuing to look at ways to de-risk its Middle East operations.
