Around 20% of the work is expected to be subcontracted out
Buckingham Group has been handed a 拢19m contract to upgrade Leeds station.
Network Rail has appointed the Stowe-based firm to increase the capacity at the city鈥檚 main station (pictured).
The programme of works will include the construction of an additional platform.
In a contract award notice published on the Official Journal, Network Rail said around one fifth of the contract value would be subcontracted.
The rail authority said it was likely the design and support services, electrical lighting and mechanical services, telecommunications services, car park surfacing and steelwork were likely to be subcontracted out.
Buckingham beat out two other firms for the job, which was originally expected to be worth 拢22m.
The station was given a major overhaul at the beginning of the 2000s by Bovis Lend Lease under a 拢165m deal.
