Move will happen in January
锘緽RE Group chairman Martin Wyatt will step down from his role next January and will be replaced by BRE chief executive Peter Bonfield.
BRE Group consists of research organisation BRE, certification body BRE Global and innovation consultant BRE Ventures.
Wyatt, who will become non-executive chairman, has led the former government-owned organisation since 1997 when it was privatised and had to become self-financing.
Bonfield, who has been chief executive of BRE since 2007, said he did not envisage any radical changes at BRE Group and that he wanted to continue to build on the organisation鈥檚 priorities. This includes 鈥渟teadily growing鈥 the research, certification and ventures arm. Bonfield also said he wanted to continue expanding the reach of BRE abroad. It has already set up innovation parks in China and Brazil to showcase new forms of construction.
There are currently no plans to replace Bonfield. He said a replacement might be appointed in due course or that BRE could be run collectively by the senior management team.
