The University of Birmingham has announced plans for a 拢175m makeover of its Edgbaston campus.
The redevelopment will include a new sports centre and a 50m swimming pool.
A new library is at the heart of the scheme, which the university hopes to complete by the end of 2015.
University director of estates Ian Barker said: 鈥淎 number of developments, like the proposed new sports centre, swimming pool and the cultural hub, focus on facilities that will benefit the community as well as staff and students.鈥
Yesterday saw the International Test debut of the revamped Edgbaston cricket ground. The redevelopment of the Pavilion End has increased capacity from 20,000 to 25,000 making it the second biggest cricket stadium in the country after Lords.
