Firms鈥 joint venutre bmJV bags contract to increase capacity on M1
A 拢105m contract to increase capacity on the M1 has been awarded to Bam Nuttall and Morgan Sindall (bmJV) in a joint venture.
Due to be completed in September 2015, the work, for the Highways Agency, begins today.
It will see the hard shoulder between junction 39 and 42 in west Yorkshire converted into an extra lane.
During the work, a 50mph speed limit will be enforced and three narrow lanes will be kept open.
Back in July, the joint venture won a 拢136m contract to improve the M62 between junctions 25 and 30, experience which has been used to streamline this latest project.
Gary Crisp, contracts director for bmJV, said: 鈥淲e are delighted that our previous experience gained on a range of highways schemes, including the M62, has ensured we are best placed to provide the travelling public with this improved road network earlier than originally scheduled.
鈥淲e look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the Highways Agency to realise this vital scheme to reduce congestion and improve journey times, without reducing safety.鈥
