The tech giant will occupy the central Boiler House at the heart of the vast regeneration scheme
Battersea Power Station has landed its first major office tenant in the form of tech giant Apple.
The firm is to occupy 500,000 sq ft across six floors inside the histroric Sir Giles William Scott designed building within the central Boiler House, which equates to 40% of the total office space available at the development.
Apple is expected to move into the Power Station in 2020, which will become its new London campus with the firm鈥檚 1,400 employees to relocate from Apple鈥檚 other London offices.
The under-restotration power station is the largest brick building in Europe and will include 2m sq ft of new space designed by architect Wilkinson Eyre and include 253 new homes.
Battersea Power Station Development Company chief executive Rob Tincknell said:鈥淚t is testament to our fantastic building and the wider regeneration of the 42-acre site which offers a carefully curated mix of homes, businesses and leisure amidst extraordinary open spaces and new transport links. It has always been our clear objective to create one of London鈥檚 most thriving new communities and this commitment from Apple will undoubtedly help us achieve our goal.鈥
The development is owned by Malaysian shareholders Sime Darby, SP Setia and The Employees Provident Fund (EPF). The development is managed by British based Battersea Power Station Development Company.
