Jackie Doyle-Price was only in post for two months
The industry will have to make do with another construction minister after the latest incumbent left the role after two months in the post.
Jackie Doyle-Price was only appointed in the first week of September but a spokesperson said she had left her post as minister of state at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and returned to the backbenches.
She was appointed shortly after Liz Truss took up office in 10 Downing Street but it was nearly a month before her brief as minister for industry, responsible for construction, was confirmed.
The Thurrock MP was the eighth person to take up the role in less than four years, following on from Lord Callanan, Lee Rowley, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, Kwasi Kwarteng, Nadhim Zahawi, Andrew Stephenson and Richard Harrington.
The minister鈥檚 role is important to the Construction Leadership Council with the construction minister taking on the role as co-chair alongside an industry representative, currently Mace chief executive Mark Reynolds.
Meanwhile, at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, one of these former construction ministers has been shifted to a new role.
Rowley has become the local government minister at the department, a role which will see him take responsibility for building safety, including the remediation and regulation regimes.
He was recently replaced as housing minister after less than two months in the job by Lucy Frazer, who recently joined DLUHC as its only minister of state.
