London Velodrome architect reports success in the Middle and Far East following its Olympic work
Hopkins Architects has reported 10% increase in pre-tax profit and a 21% rise in revenue.
In accounts filed at Companies House for the year to 31 March 2013, Hopkins Architects Partnership LLP reported pre-tax profit of 拢2.4m, up from 拢2.2m the previous year.
The designer of the London Olympic Velodrome (pictured) also reported revenue of 拢9.7m, up from 拢8m.
However, the firm鈥檚 revenue from the UK market fell 17%, down from 拢6m to 拢5m, although his was offset by a doubling of the revenue from both Europe and the rest of the world to 拢717,665 and 拢4m respectively.
Writing in the accounts, partner Sir Michael Hopkins said the UK and Western European market had been 鈥渃hallenging鈥� but workload in the Middle East had improved.
He added: 鈥淚n the UK we have invested in a number of projects that we are confident will progress in the future鈥� Our office in Dubai has made good progress this year where we have increased resource to meet demand in the region and seen the re-activation of projects that have been on hold.
鈥淲orldwide opportunities for sports projects continue following the success of our London 2012 Velodrome, including velodrome and stadia projects in the Middle and Far East.鈥�
The practice also grew its average staff numbers to 96, up from 84 the previous year.
