Proposed 2025 energy regulations focus on PV and services rather than building fabric to reduce emissions. Will this be enough to help meet the UK鈥檚 2050 target?

At the end of last year, the government announced a consultation which could be the last ever revision to building energy regulations. It states that new buildings built to the proposed standards will meet the 2050 net zero target as the electricity grid decarbonises without any need for retrofitting. 

Rather than couching the proposals in terms of carbon emission reductions compared with previous energy regulation updates, the consultation talks about 鈥渮ero carbon ready鈥 buildings.
