The Specialist Engineering Contractors鈥 Group remains positive that its proposed amendments to the Construction Bill will be passed, despite being resisted by the House of Lords last week

Rudi Klein, chief executive of SEC Group, said he had hoped several peers would voice their support for the proposals, which relate to pay and adjudication.

But Lord Tope said the bill was 鈥渘ot yet in pristine condition鈥.

Klein said he maintained 鈥渉igh hopes鈥 the amendments would be passed when the bill moved to the House of Commons in about a month鈥檚 time.

However, Rupert Choat, partner at CMS Cameron McKenna, said he remained sceptical. 鈥淚 think it is unlikely they will be passed,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t is hard to see why they would make these further changes to the bill.鈥
