Firm wins consultancy role on mystery airport off the coast of Abu Dhabi
NG Bailey has won its first contract in the Middle East, providing consultancy services on a mystery airport 100 miles off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
The development will include an airport terminal, air traffic control building and runway fire service station and will be built by UAE-based contractor Al Naboodah.
NG Bailey refused to disclose the exact location of the scheme - other than that it will be built on a 鈥渞emote island鈥 in the Persian Gulf - or the scheme鈥檚 ultimate client.
The firm said it will use BIM on the airport project. NG Bailey specialises in mechanical and electrical, IT and facilities management contracting and consulting.
Chief executive David Hurcomb said the win was part of its strategy to diversify away from its traditional core business of UK M&E contracting.
Hurcomb said: 鈥淎s the UK construction market remains challenging, we have been seeking out new opportunities in line with our strategic growth plan.鈥
Separately NG Bailey has won a two-year facilities management contract at Land Securities鈥 newly-opened Trinity Leeds shopping centre in Leeds.
The firm will provide mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance services at the one million ft2 complex.
