Alpha Heating Innovation’s FlowSmart package has now been added to BRE’s SAP Appendix Q, which allows the energy performance of new technologies and advanced versions of existing technologies to be evaluated for inclusion in SAP assessments
In addition, the NHBC has confirmed that it will accept domestic heating system designs that incorporate FlowSmart in accordance with Chapter 8.1 of its standards, regarding simultaneous draw-offs up to 18 litres per minute. With its hot water performance and energy efficiency, FlowSmart is suitable alternative to the traditional option of a system boiler and unvented cylinder set-up, particularly in multi-bathroom homes.
It comprises a compact SEDBUK Band A-rated CD35C combi-boiler plus, a GasSaver flue gas heat recovery unit and a small thermal store of either 25 or 50 litres. These help reduce the workload placed on the combi boiler, enabling it to deliver enough hot water even for the most demanding situation, claims the company. Flowsmart is capable of delivering 18 litres of hot water per minute, at a minimum 50ºC, for up to 30 minutes.
