Lime Technology’s Tradical Hemcrete has zero carbon properties

Lime Technology’s Tradical Hemcrete, an insitu hemp and lime walling system, has been specified for the construction of six new timber frame homes at Domary Court, York. The company says Tradical Hemcrete was chosen because of its zero carbon properties as the hemp absorbs CO2 during its growth, and also as a cost effective alternative to conventional masonry cavity walls. A temporary formwork was erected and Tradical Hemcrete was poured into the wall voids. After 24 hours, the formwork was removed but the exposed walls still needed to be protected from the weather until they could be finished 28 days later with a mixture of external render and Thermowood cedar boarding.
