Profit goes up by more than half
Northern Irish contractor Graham saw turnover hit a record number last year as the firm said income and profit bounced back from the ravages of the pandemic.
The firm, which is headquartered in Hillsborough, County Down, said revenue was up 18% to 拢948m, after falling 5% the year before, with pre-tax profit jumping 54% to 拢19m.
Graham said all of its five business units, which include building, civils and fit-out, stayed in the black during the year to March 2022.
Chief executive Andrew Bill said: 鈥淲e have adopted a pragmatic, sensible and selective approach to winning work, coupled with a focus on risk management. Real collaboration with our clients and partners, based on trust and transparency, has also been central to realising our group objectives.鈥�
Cash at the bank and in hand also increased to 拢127m during the period, from 拢119m.
The accounts, which have now been filed at Companies House, show the firm didn鈥檛 claim any money during the period from the government鈥檚 Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme having received 拢6m the year before 鈥� although it has since repaid 拢1.3m of that figure.
The firm was handed a 拢476,000 R&D tax credit last year on top of the 拢458,000 it was given the year before.
