EC Harris has landed the cost management role on the 拢500m-plus remodelling of Chelsea Football Club鈥檚 stadium.

The consultant will work alongside architect Herzog & de Meuron on the Westminster Abbey-inspired revamp for Stamford Bridge. EC Harris will also provide programme and construction logistics advice.

The revamp of Stamford Bridge is fully-funded by Russian oligarch and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and will see two hotels demolished to enlarge capacity at the stadium from 42,000 to 60,000.

The scheme鈥檚 鈥済othic skin鈥 facade is being engineered by Eckersley O鈥機allghan, while WSP is providing railways and transportation expertise, Aecom is strategic planner and German engineer Schlaich Bergermann is structural engineer on the redevelopment.

Paul Mitchell, partner and head of sports and stadia at EC Harris, part of Arcadis, said: 鈥淭he addition of Chelsea to our portfolio provides us a unique opportunity in delivering a 60,000 seat venue in a historic part of London.

鈥淚t combines the challenges from both Arsenals Emirates stadium in building over live railways and Tottenham Hotspur where we are currently constructing the first section of their new stadium whilst they continue to play in their current stadium.鈥

EC Harris are also the project manager for the redevelopment of the main stand at Liverpool鈥檚 Anfield stadium and were the project manager for the major enhancement works at Manchester City鈥檚 Etihad stadium.
