Move means Olympic Delivery Authority boss set to lead Institution of Civil Engineers from 2015
Olympics boss Sir John Armitt has been earmarked as the future president of the Institution of Civil Engineers after being voted onto the body鈥檚 presidential team.
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) said it had elected Sir John Armitt, Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) chairman, to its presidential team, with a view to him becoming the leading engineering body鈥檚 president.
The ICE said Sir John would take up the post as succeeding vice president in November 2012, which put him in line to become president in 2015, subject to formal election.
ICE president Richard Coackley said: 鈥淪ir John brings extensive experience of the profession and the challenges it faces to the presidential team.
鈥淢ost recently his expert leadership of the ODA has shown his dedication to excellence in civil engineering, particularly through driving best value as he has succeeded in delivering a world-class Olympics site on time and on budget. We are very excited to welcome him onto the team.鈥
